Former Governor of Kaduna state, Balarabe Musa, has faulted the claim made by President Muhammadu Buhari in his new year broadcast that restructuring will not solve Nigeria’s problem.
The president opined in the speech that the problem with Nigeria is not the structure but the process of doing things and, as proof, explained that the country had tried many political systems in the past but couldnt record any success.
In disagreement however, Balarabe Musa said the systems failed not because they were inherently faulty, but because leaders at the time were of poor quality and self-serving.
“The economy should be restructured. What we are operating now in which the economy is in private hands cannot help us. We should restructure the economy so that government can play a greater role for sustainable development,” he said.
