Arsenal Legend, Thierry Henry, was in Lagos on Sunday, as he took part in a series of events which saw him crowned the ‘IGWE’ of goals, and made to cook the famous and controversial Nigerian Jollof.
In an event organized by Guinness, the former Arsenal striker was welcomed to Lagos by a set of Arsenal supporters at the airport amid overwhelming cheers and support, before viewing the game between Manchester United and West Brom with selected guests at the Landmark Event Center, Victoria Island Lagos.
After a press conference where Henry told reporters his excitement to be in the country of Nwankwo Kanu, he proceeded to the kitchen and partook in the preparation of the famous Nigerian Jollof.
The high point of he event came when Thierry Henry was crowned the ‘IGWE of Goals’ in a coronation ceremony conducted by a Guinness ambassador. The French striker was dressed in a full traditional Igbo Regalia and a royal crown was placed on his head, with fans shouting IGWE.
