The Edo state Football Association will today, Friday 30th of June, hold a memorial lecture in honor of the late Super Eagles coach, Shuaibu Amodu at the media center, Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
The lecture entitled ‘Life and Times of Shuaibu Amodu,’ would be delivered by veteran coach, Alabi Aisien after a novelty match involving several ex-nationals who were friends of the Late Shuaibu.
According to the chairman of the FA, Frank Ilaboya, the lecture would be used to recount the life and times of one of Nigeria’s finest coach, one year after he passed away.
“Beyond the lecture, the occasion will serve as a reminder to both Edo State and the Federal Government on the need to find a way to immortalise Nigeria’s past heroes,” Ilaboya stated.
Amodu died in Benin City on June 11, 2016, aged 58, few days after the demise of another Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi.
The late coach, who was Technical Director, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) until his death, qualified the Eagles for the 2002 and 2010 World Cups and also led the national team to the third place at the 2002 and 2010 African Nations Cup.
